When I performed a whois on my friends on my notify list I can see what channels they are in and join that channel. Recently I made a friend over IRC but when I perform a whois on his name, it doesn't show me what channel he is in. I know he is in a channel becasue I asked him with the query command. ut why won't it show me the channel he is in? Please help. Thanks

/mode #channel +p OR +s makes channel invisible on your /whois list....

so if he is in the channel(s) that have +p or +s mode then you cant see him on /whois

p - is for PRIVATE
s - is for SECRET

Some ircd's also support +p as a user mode that hides all channels to /who & /whois except the channels you share.
