Hi! So I have this problem:
I get a "Unable to connect (connection refused)" message that's really frustrating!! I'm trying to connect through port 6667 and never had any such problems in the past. I'm not using any scripts or anything that complicated. It is an EMERGENCY!!!! reply asap please! thx!

Since you feel this is an emergency and you need help asap, did you perhaps take the time to read the thread near the top of this forum with the subject line of Unable to connect?

As suggested there, did you try other servers and ports?

I'm getting that message on nearly all the servers in the servers.ini file. The odd one just returns the usual 'unable to resolve server,' but for the most part, every network seems to give me that error. I have no firewalls on, and I'm a fairly experienced user. I'm curious if maybe my ISP has anything to do with it...

Its an almost impossible task to keep up with all the servers on every network, they can change often. As well, some networks set their random to not resolve correctly when they are experiencing problems. I'd suggest going to the website of the network and checking their current server list and trying one of those. In your status window just type /server theserver.info.here like /server b0rk.uk.quakenet.org

Its possible there is a dns prob, you could try connecting to the ip, like /server 213.221.165.248 and it wouldnt hurt to try a few different ports

I already tried everything suggested here or in other threads. Doesn't work!
Could it be that something is wrong with the server?
I've used it for a year now and never had such a problem. Plus, rooms and peoplr I want are connected via that server so if I get connected to another one I can't find them, isn't that right? Sorry, but I'm not such an expert so all this may be silly to some of you..

What server is it you are trying to connect to? Its possible the server is down or just full, let us know what it is so we can try it.

Generally a network has several servers you can use, all of which take you to the same "place".

It's chat.mad.gr. I guess it's due to the server, though, coz a friend of mine using it has a problem too. How can I find another server to take me to the same "place and people"?And thank you for the interest and help!

If you know their website it should have a list of their servers or if you can connect thru there. I tried a google search on mad chat, but the most likely sites i found were in greek, so i dont know if a site like www.mad.gr is the same networkyou want, sorry.

I tried to connect to the server you named on a few ports, i couldnt connect either.

Hard to believe but...everything is back to normal!!!! Hurray!! As I thought it was a general problem of the server, since neither their chatroom in the page worked! Anyway, thanx for the trouble all of you' ve been through!!
