Help!
I'm in the UK, downloaded the UK versions (and many others) of mIRC and i can't connect on any servers at all!!!
It's always saying: " Unable to resolve server " !!!
There's no explication for this in the FAQ! Help me please!!! It's so sad without mIRC...

This post explains that error. See if you can connect to "QuakeNet: Random UK Server", since that one is definitely up.

I've written "/dns server.url" on the status screen, then then mIRC looks up for a "server.url" then it says "Unable to resolve server.orl"
...
still not working..

Are you typing "server.url" or the actual URL?

Well you have to put in the actual servers name. The 'command' to look up a server is /dns <insert server name here> The message you're seeing means the server isn't found, wrong number as it were. Servers come and go, what is here and usable today, might be disconnected or even renamed tomorrow. Go to the networks web site and find their list of current, active servers.

"server.url" is not going to lead anywhere as (to my knowledge) there's not even a TLD known as ".url" Grab the actual server address and do the look up on that. It will usually be something like irc.chatservername.com
If it is your /dns function in mIRC that is stuffed (due to assigning /dns alias to something else or whatever it might be) open DOS and type nslookup irc.chatservername.com
Note that you have to definitely use the server's real address. Typing the examples given won't do anything.
In addition: Just because you can get a reverse DNS does not mean the server is up or even connected to the net. What you are being sent is information from a DNS server and all that does is assign the name of the server to the IP address provided by their ISP.

What server or network are you trying to connect to? For instance, if you were trying to connect to the QuakeNet: Random UK server, in your Status Window, you would type:
/dns uk.quakenet.org - * Looking up uk.quakenet.org - * Resolved uk.quakenet.org to 213.221.165.248 -
If you get * Unable to resolve uk.quakenet.org, then your DNS server isn't working. Contact your ISP to correct that problem.
If you get the resolved IP, like 213.221.165.248, then try /server 213.221.165.248
Here are a couple of IPs for you to try for different network servers:
EFnet: 193.163.220.3 (irc.inet.tele.dk) EFnet: 208.178.231.190 (irc.prison.net) EFnet: 206.167.75.78 (irc.Qeast.net)
QuakeNet: 204.254.121.10 (whole.mi.us.quakenet.org) QuakeNet: 213.221.165.248 (b0rk.uk.quakenet.org)
undernet: 129.27.9.248 (graz.at.Eu.UnderNet.org) undernet: 132.207.4.32 (montreal.qu.ca.undernet.org)
