Since highlighting is enable from <alt>o IRC / Highlight, what is the purpose of "Highlight text" under toolbar / colors icon / appearance?

Sorry for the misunderstanding about the dialog window but I had pressed <ctrl>k rather than <alt>k. That's why there were a misunderstanding about this window. My error!

Be sure that before asking a question in this forum, I clicked on all help buttons crossing my path. loll

I do understand what can be done through this window. My question is on the 3rd item of the left column: "Highlight text". After setting it to different colors, I am unable to identify the type of text it affects.

Then, what I would like to know is as follow. If I set this parameter to "RED", what text will appear in Red?

You can set mIRC to highlight lines of dialogue with whatever match-word you specifiy. So if I set the matchword to 'Deku', mIRC will display the line of text with 'Deku' in it in with the colour you specify. Nifty little feature smile

Where are you setting such words?

If you are setting your list of words using:
<alt>o IRC / Highlight
then you are setting your highlight color from that window.

Therefore my question remains unanswered.

When you change the hi-light colour from within the options dialogue, does it not also change in the colour-settings dialogue? I am not a mIRC user any more so am unable to verify...

Here is what the "Add Highlight" window looks like :

My understanding is that if I leave the color to which is not a color, it would used the default color set to "Highlight text" in the mIRC Colors window. It is not so, the color remains black regardless of the color set as default in the mIRC Colors window.

Is my understanding wrong or is it a bug? I am still waiting for a reply on the purpose of "Highlight Text" in the mIRC Colors window.
