Hi Krejt,
The toolbar you have supplied at http://www.mirc.co.uk/help/default-toolbar.bmp seems rather incompatible with 6.12. Do you have one that is compatible with 6.12 just so i can edit the images? I do not know which icons go where in the bmp. smile

Hey thanks!
hmm. Just out of curiosity, why is there the 2 finger icons when I don't seem to be able to get the icons on the toolbar.
Also, I'd like to know what's the 2nd icon form the right for?
The one with white background and a few dots.. grin

Different states (statuses). Its the same kind of applicationa s remotes has four buttons (one with two red dots, two with one, and the last with none)

EDIT: Actually 6.12 has onl the alias button, so it has two states. The one with the dot filled in means remotes are on. f you want to see it disappear, type /remote off >:P

How about the icon to the right of "Cascade"? Never seen it b4 in irc, though i've noticed the same existence since the older bmps.

If you remove the switchbar it is used as an "Arrange" button.

its too much work to say "here go download this program and install it" and then if theres an updateed version then what? some things may not work right.

That's exactly the thing.

You are saying, "People distribute mirc.exe in their scripts, beause most users are too lazy/stupid to install scripts and addons themselves."

We are saying, "People need to accept the fact that mIRC must be downloaded from www.mirc.com, and scripts must be installed on top of it either manually or via script installers. People too stupid to do this must not use scripts. period."

mIRC may not be re-distributed with modifications to it, even to benifit users that don't know any better or who have no desire to know better. It is imperative that these users know exactly what they're getting themselves into when they install and use a script. This law is what prevents viruses from spreading, and ensures the integrity of mIRC's name as a safe application.

Even open source projects have laws that people must follow when creating a distribution, public or private. Look at the problems that scripts like Polaris and Invision have caused, these users don't even realize they're using mIRC... and if anything, that's a crime against Khaled.

Creating a script installer is easy as pie. Simply WinZip your script and all its related files including mirc.ini. Then make the ZIP Self-Extracting. All the user has to do is double-click your SFX installer and specify the path to mIRC.

Done.

Well. At least I won lunch.
Good philosophy, see good in bad, I like!

Mtec is right about the update thing...

but than again...
It's still illegal to distribute any mIRC files like it says in the license...
It would be wrong to do so...
How hard is it to tell poeple that they should download the mirc installer from this site and then put your scripts inside that directory ?¿?¿?

It's just a small explanation, and then your doing everything legal...

Don't make a fuzz out of something like this and just do the right thing...

And i think you shouldn't be playing around with the mirc icons...
Leave them the way they are..
Why change something that you don't even notice...
Or has no real value of changing...

Just leave mirc the way it is and go change it with the scripts..
Not the resource hacker...
