Refabrication steps:

1) Click on a person's nick on the right hand side (like when it says there's a new post and by who)
2) click the link for the specific group the post was made in (like where it says (for example): News and Discussions >> General Discussion)
3) Notice how it now lists "from the begining" instead of your preferences
4) if you go to the main window and then click the group normally, you get your preferenced list

Yes, I have noticed this happen too, and exactly as you described it... after clicking on the last poster's nick on the forum list, then navigating around from that post.

I'm sure with a little effort, one could compare the &variables in the url and find which one is responsible for listing posts of N age.

I'm not sure what you're talking about, but another weirdness is that viewing a thread by clicking on the last poster's nickname doesn't take the thread into the account of threads you've already seen (those not marked in red).

I don't know if this has been posted before, but I have found a solution to the problem of new posts being reported under the forums and when you go to check, all threads have been read (phantom postings).

If you set your webbrowser to compare the new page to the page in the cache every time, it seems to eliminate the phantom postings. At least it has for me with Opera and Mozilla...
