I can't believe it, I shared my email ad here and started receiving spam mail the same day. It would help if normal users (who don't have access) would not get to read the personal info(s).

Thankies

That's why one sets up a bogus yahoo addy for public places like these, or uses an address where it doesn't matter.

another good thing (on this board) is to NOT have a publicly viewable email address. Since Ive been coming to these boards (both old and new) I cant really claim a larger amount of spam to my "spam-mailable" email address.

This is exactly why these boards offer the option to provide one e-mail address for our administrative use only (this one is not never ever visible to other users) and an e-mail address which will be displayed on posts and in your personal info. It is left to your own discretion to smartly provide the public, none, or a fake public e-mail address.

You could fake it and strill be reasonable reachable with pretty simple measures like tjerk.nospam@mirc.com or tjerk@nospam.mirc.com or even tjerk@reverse.crim.com like addresses.

Succes!

Another idea is to use CAPTCHA to prevent robots from searching for addesses.
