I've just upgraded to 6.12 after using 5.71 (32bit) for ages now. Never had a problem initiating a DCC or receiving one before. I have no problems connecting to a chatroom but now when I request a dcc (/ctcp etc....), the screen flashes for a second and nothing. No new window, nothing. I've double checked all my old settings I'd had on 5.71 (saved it in a different folder as backup) and they are the same. The lock and ignore are both disabled, so I can't think of why its doing this. I've run the 5.71 since - can still get DCC sends. Nothing still on the 6.12. Is this a glitch in someway? Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?
thanks

The only reason *I* can think of for using /ctcp to request a DCC with users is for file trading.

In which case, you should read my favourite post.

If you're not file trading please feel free to reply, honesty would be appreciated! smile

How many times are you going to be told ?

Regardless of what the DCC is for - I did come here asking a legit question and would have expected a bit of help with a problem I was having with the program. Instead I now feel like I have to justify my reasons for using the program at all. Honestly - as it was put -it is really my own business. But if prying minds HAVE to know to get a response to why this upgrade does not seem to want to connect, then - yes, it is for file sharing. No it is not pirated or copyright infringement, porn, or any of the above. Its a group of 2D&3D artists sharing tutorials, personal artwork, etc... a couple of members who had the means and the hard-drive space have archived all the files to their computers and we just access them when we need them.

But anyway.... is there an answer to my question or do I have to undergo some sort of background check to find out why this Mirc upgrade isn't working but the old one does.

thanks....

Have you tried the suggestions in this thread?

Only other thing i can think of is perhaps a script isnt cooperating with the newer version? Have you tried turning scripts off, or a clean copy in another file? Tried sending thru the dcc send icon to other ppl than your group to see if you can narrow anything down?

Thanks for your reply Parabrat. Have to admit though - I'm not an overly computer literate person. Really have no idea if there are any scripts or anything else running. I always just install and go. I did sit and compare all the settings I had running with the old version and they match. Did try sending to someone - again, screen flickered and nothing. They said it just timed out.
May just stick with the old version though since I'm used to it and it hasn't given me any problems.

i have fiddled with dcc options 'til i went insane(r)..
removed router and went direct to cable modem ...
nothing seemed to help ...
so went back to mirc 5.9 which still works for me
