When someone connects to my DCC server for CHAT, their nick may get mangled. I notice this with nicks that contain [] characters in them. This make its a nuiusance when I want to respond back to the perosn on the other side of the connect by sending them a /ctcp because the nick has been mangled. It would eliminate a great deal of overhead code if the nick mangling could be prevented.

I know there's problems with certain characters in nicks and logfiles, but that's a windows issue. I've never noticed a problem with users with [] in their nicks with a dcc chat

The nick mangling only happens when the remote user has [] in their nickj and they are connecting to my mIRC on port 59 to establish a CHAT. If I connect to them to establish a CHAT, then the nick does not get mangled. The former case happens when the remote user is behind a firewall or NAT router and has no way of accepting a CHAT connection from me, so they have to initiate a CHAT connection with me.
