The file was located at C:\DOCUME~1\CARLLE~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER10.tmp.dir00\appcompat.txt

Im not really sure whats causing the crash message, but i submitted it to Microsoft anyways lol.

Looking thru teh gibberish above, i do see some stuff about omenserve.exe, AGUnzip.exe, and other stuff.

Is this an mIRC issue, or a script issue? The scripts I have loaded are AutoGet, Omenserve, AdFilter, and Keeptrack. All products of ^OmeN^. I already posted to his forum in case its a bug in his program but thought Id post here too.

Thanks!

It's probable that this is due to a bug introduced in 6.1 (or maybe before).

mIRC 6.1 and 6.11 Exploit

ok. i saw 1 post regarding some new crash, but is there a way in mIRC to block ALL DCC connections, except for 1-3 nicks? Which are close friends, so i wouldnt have reason to block/ignore them.

hmm. is there a way to "view" or clear the ignore list? lol. or how can I turn it off. I used the "ignore all DCCs" command first, then used the /ignore -x friend command line, (used my friends real nick of course) and he still cant send to me.

Yes., actually there IS a decent way with mirc 6.03 and upward, (or is it 6.0 and up?) to get around this...

As was recommended in the other thread, you should apply the ignore on DCC ...

/ignore -d *!*@*

To let people on through past that, use exclude "ignores" ... Which you'll need to add per person (yes, I know, a bit of a pain, but...)

Best you do a /whois on each user beforehand to see the whole address ... depending on the address type, you would want to use different syntax...

For fixed addresses like...

ChrstphrR!userid@chrstphrr.users.undernet.org

You would use:

/ignore -x <NicknameHere> 2

...
and for more typical dynamic addresses, like

ChrstphrR!userid@ppp-123456.myisp.com

You would use...

/ignore -x <NicknameHere> 3

This will let you still get dcc chat from your friends, each individual one you add that matches the masks you make.

I would -NOT- recommend adding level 1 users - since that tends to be the default level ... which means anyone exploiting that nasty little bug will be Level 1 ... and has the chance of matching an exclude mask you set, thus opening you to be vulnerable again.

Hope that Helps
Christopher Robin /
ChrstphrR @ on #usa on Undernet (shameless plug)

P.S.

The mIRC Address Book dialog that contains the Control tab, and the ignore list, is also a useful tool to check the entries you add -- you can manage the masks you add in, and fix any problems that way, too.

Use /ignore -wd to ignore on all servers. W means every server.

since dling this new patch in the Download mIRC section, I should be able to remove any addresses/nicks in the Address Book under Ignore, is that correct?

So, basically I can clear out all the Address Book ignore addresses now that I got the update?

hehe.
