i`m behind a proxy that only use`s port 8080
is there away to connect to a server?

OS: win 98 se
Proxy: using this proxy -> proxy.edu.davinci.nl @ port 8080
connection: 8mbit dl & ul is unknow to me
mIRC gives this

* Connecting to irc.aniverse.com (6665)
-
* Connection attempt timed out
-
* Connect retry #1 irc.aniverse.com (6667)

* Connection attempt timed out

You would have to find a server/network that allowed that port. You can also talk to your network administration about opening additional ports.

i don`t think the school admin would do that

you don't have to talk to your admin

go in to file->options->firewall

set firewall support to "both"
set protocol to "proxy"

for hostname give your proxy address

and enter 8080 for port

that's it

you should now be able to use mirc
with the exception that your dcc ports won't work.
