We have an IRC chat client on our site and was wondering how to configure it so it shows an icon somewhere on the website that are people chatting or using the chat client . Without having to go in and see all the time .
Any ideas ?

I'm not sure if there is a way to see if people are using the chat at the time - apart from having to go in, like you say - but a hit counter would tell you how many people have used it. Dunno if this is any good to you, but just a thought anyway smile

Never compare yourself to others - they're more screwed up than you think.

I assume you want to know if there's people in the channel without having to enter it?

This is possible with server-side scripting but before you can do this your website has to be somewhere that supports ASP, PHP or something similar.

Ok thanks Watchdog . Sorry if my question wasnt clear . We have a webpage that has an IRC button at the top and a lot of people ask if we could have an indicator somewhere on the site that shows when someone is in the chatroom without having to enter all the time just to see if someone is there . I`ll see if we have the PHP , not sure at this point . Thanks !!
