Forums Connection Issues Bad user info

Is it just me or is it impossible to connect to irc.freenode.net with 6.1?

The mesage i get: Closing Link: saxon (Bad user info)

I had this error message on a few other networks too. I cant remember which ones. None of the major IRC networks, though.

But anyway, i tried the above server on 6.03 and connect instantly. So what is the deal with 6.1?

irc.freenode.net works for me on 6.1. Make sure you don't have anything abnormal in your Full Name, Email Address and User ID (under Identd) boxes in options. Also try it with remotes off, as a script could be sending custom user information that the server doesn't like.

If that doesn't get you anywhere post the first few lines of the /debug output when you try to connect.

Well it turned out to be my email address. There was nothing abnormal about it though. It was just random letters, something like 'dafafs' - no unusual characters or anything.. But changing it to 'sss' enabled me to connect. Weird. Thanks.
