Where to begin....

I have to say, version 6.1 of mIRC is fantastic :-) So much so that I doubt I'll ever upgrade from it; it's got everything I need, and it's pretty darn flawless...

Apart from the few flaws mentioned by other people ;-)

My feature (channel listings get saved in the /channels directory now, yay!) got implemented, keeping the base mIRC dir nice and tidy.

I would just make 3 rather minor suggestions.

1) Make it possible to select *which* subdir the channels get stored in, like you can with the logs, downloads and sounds dirs. It's only consistent :-P But luckily /channels suits me fine.

2) Make it possible to disable the 'soft disconnect', and return to the old behaviour of 'once you click disconnect, server contact is TERMINATED!' God, that soft disconnect's annoying..

3) Um, could you possibly rejoin the 'Connect' and 'Servers' options pages into one again? I kinda liked all my connect options on the dialog at once, eg. nick/name information AND network/server, instead of having to switch over every time. What's that 'red cogwheel' button thingy about? :-)

Apart from that, great job guys! I dunno who's developing mIRC these days, but this version (especially minus browser bug) is *very* polished, feature-rich, and easy to use.

Glad to see that someone has said something positive about V6.1. I thought I was going to be alone for a sec. grin

I didn't mention Khaled specifically, because I've been seeing people implying other developers too, like in this post. "Thanks Tjerk AND Khaled"? Does Tjerk just run the website or something?

Do we have a list of developers/contributers to mIRC? :-)

Yes, if you open the help file and click 'Acknowledgements'.

Yes, I have to agree, mIRC 6.1 is a beauty!

However, there are some things I would have liked to have seen implemented, but I'm not going to die over their exclusion (hopefully they will be including in the next release, or in the future).

Anyway, just a note, /disconnect still does a hard disconnect :P

Yeah, but can you hardwire that to the connect/disconnect button in the top left corner? If so, tell me how to and I'll STFU about it ;-)

It takes you to the servers list

re who's developing mIRC: (in addition to what Poppy said)
From
Khaled's FAQ
Question: Do you work on mIRC by yourself?
Answer: Yes, and no.
I work on mIRC from my home, and I am the only software developer, however many hundreds, if not thousands, of volunteers have helped me out over the years.
Most noted is the venerable Tjerk Vonck, who created the first #mIRC channel, the mIRC website, and much more.
The mIRC beta team, the ops on #mIRC and other channels who help users with mIRC issues, the Message Board moderators, the website mirror and download providers, the language translators, and thousands of other people, have also been invaluable.
It's unlikely that mIRC would have developed into what it is today without the input and help of many people.

Thank you for the kind words and positive attitude, as well as voicing your requests politely. Nice to see appreciation for Khaled's hard work. smile
