Try typing in a channel /qme blabla without any privates open. Mirc will reply * /ame: you are not on a channel
Why /ame and not /qme ?

typing //qme blah | //qmsg blah

yeilds:
* /ame: you are not on a channel
* /amsg: you are not on a channel

Also, shouldnt it say you are not on(in) a query and not you are not on a channel? I know it's a small thing, but better accurate than not

i use /amsg in an alias i made for quiting.
i used /amsg first and then /quit and i was getting this error.
i use now /timer 1 1 quit but i still get the same error (sometimes, not always).

(confused) You got it when using (uppercased for stress) /QMSG & /QME or /AMSG & /AME???? Is the name of your quit alias /qmsg & /qme?

i noticed that this happens only when the active window is the status window, and the command is called remotely and not from the command line.
it seems that the commands exlude channel and dcc chat windows and try to /msg or /ame all other opened windows.

Correction: the command is not called remotely, but from an alias which is executed in the command line.
