I think it would be benificial to add a more UK friendly payment option? If the box was removed so that the about box will show up every time mirc is started (obviously to try get more ppl to register) then make it easier for people to register. A lot of people who use mIRC are <18 and so will not have a credit card and so local payment centres in a variety of countries could help to get more income if thats what khaled is looking for. Surely its not too much to ask.

Just my two cents

I'm in agreement and have asked for much the same thing, though on an international scale (to a certain degree) in the past. I think it is unreasonable to expect people who (for what ever reason) don't have a credit card or have a credit card other than Visa or Mastercard (many countries have unique cards that are only acceptable in that country or the countries immiediately around them) and perhaps cannot afford to pay the post office a fee for a money order or their bank an even higher fee for a draft.

We pay in local currencies for Windows, Office, Photoshop and other popular software. Whilst mIRC is shareware a registration fee is none-the-less still required and therefore local payment options should, in my view, exist.

Agreed also.

I'm under 18, therefore, no credit card. I live in the UK and therefore, I don't use USD. Neither of my parents would be pleased with me sending money away, and would find every way to put a stop to it.

I was actually surprised to see it was $ to pay for mIRC when Khaled is in the UK. I don't want to flame the Americans or anything, I have loads of American friends (<3) but I'm quite sick of everything being catered for them. The United Stated is not the only place on Earth, and as the author of mIRC and others that support it preach about how Global IRC in general is, surely, if we are going to *have* to pay for it, there should be a more Global way to do so?

My 2 pennies wink

it amazes me how just now since the release registering a copy of mirc is such a big deal... if you people really liked the program in the first place and started making comments about the registration process when u first decided to stay with it.. we wouldnt have the issue right now... because it would have been solved at an earlier date

and as far as "catering" to the USD if you chose paypal you would have seen this message:

PayPal lets you send money in any of the currencies we offer (U.S. Dollars, Canadian Dollars, Euros, Pounds Sterling, and Yen) without having to open a currency balance.

On the Payment Details page, we will show you the current exchange rate and the equivalent amount in your Primary Currency (generally, U.S. Dollars). When you pay, we will handle the conversion for you.

besides... if he isnt going to put USD in there what other currency would you prefer? Euro???? then you would have a whole other breed of people complaining... check up on things first dude

I'm pretty sure I've seen people saying other forms of payment should be accepted many times now. It's not like this just started after 6.1. I've seen people saying that cash should be accepted, checks, money transfers, etc, etc. It's not something new. I'm guessing, now that registration is forced, they are asking Khaled to take it seriously because now, if he doesn't, it means they can't use mIRC since they can't register any other way.

Gna :-) Funny to see pple from the UK and Sweden complain.... two countries that didn't join the Euro wink. Anyway, read NightCrawler's post again; he makes a good point in his very first sentence.

Fair points, put across in an agressive manner that would cause some people to start flaming at him had it been pointed at certain other people :-)

Fortunately though, it was aimed at me laugh

codemstr's point is basically mine - this isnt a NEW thing, it's been said before, and will most likely be said in the future.

I have actually seen that PayPal message before and I just completely forgot about it heh.

Btw, I don't want *one* currency to be for everyone. I was noting that, disregarding the fact that PayPal supports multiple currency, if you haven't got a credit card, you can't pay for it without converting the money etc etc.

Krejt: Why is it funny to see people from the UK/Sweden "complaining" just because they didn't join the Euro? That has nothing to do with it :-)

Anyway, I don't believe mIRC becomes completely unusable after the 30 days trial period, and I am quite prepared to put up with annoying About dialogues in order to connect! If I was in a different financial situation, then it wouldn't be an issue :-)

Happy chatting!

Regards,

i dont know how it is in other countries.. but the way i get around CC registrations is opening a checking account and requesting for a debit card.. now for those of you who dont know... a debit card is not a atm card... it is a mac card with aa CC eblem on it so that u can use it as credit but it comes out of your checking account... might do the trick

So unless your country is unlucky enough to be subject to being over-governed then there's no point complaining about mIRC registration?

PayPal doesn't cater to all countries, like mine (Singapore).

I think you have to be 18 to get a debit card though.

Yeah, well many people don't like to give their CC information over the internet. The information does get stolen. I recently had to get a new credit card because a website I used had their customer info hacked and someone got my credit card number and started charging stuff on it. So I find it understandable that even if people do have a dit card, they might not want to use it online.

Yeah you can do a bank transfer, but in many places, the cost of the transfer is double the cost of registering mIRC.
