I am having a problem with resume. When resume is requested by my client, Mirc freezes and begins hammering the HD. This will continue for many minutes (depending on the size already downloaded) then stop. By that time the fserve has timed out and the resume fails. At first I thought it was trying to position the file for append but taking way too long. However, this continues even after Mirc is 'killed'. It appears to only happen when resuming a file that has aldeady downloaded more then 30MB. Less, and resume seems to prepare the file quick enough so as to not time out..

I have just upgraded to 6.03 but that didn't help. Has anyone else experienced this problem and/or does anyone know what is going on? Thanks.

Sounds weird.

Maybe you should scan your hd with scandisk/chkdsk.

Thanks for the reply.

I do that weekly. No problems are ever reported.

Hm

Try a /remote off and check if it's still happing.

If not, you should get another script.
(though i have no idea why its reading the whole file / hammering the HD, maybe crc check? confused )

If its still happening, i'm out of ideas ...

Thanks again for the reply but you've lost me. I'm not an Mirc expert.

I don't know what /remote off does. It sounds like it will prevent the transfer.

I also don't know what you mean by get a new script. I am using the built-in DCC stuff. Is that a script? Where would I find another and how would I replace the existing one?

/remote [on|off]]
This switches processing of all scripts on/off.

Scripts are addons for mIRC to make look it better and/or add some (not always useful) features.

You can find a lot good scripts at mIRCScripts.org.

Replacing is quite easy .. just uninstall your old mirc, and install a new one.

If you want a plain mIRC without any scripts look here.

And DCC is as you said built in, so its not a script.
