Forums mIRC Help MATRIX2 Trojan virus - how do i get rid of it?

Hi,

UI have been using Mirc and just today, I kept getting banned from servers. They mentioned that there was a matrix2 trojan virus and i want to get rid of it. Can anyone help me?

Go and buy some anti-virus software, install it and keep it up to date with regular signature updates from the software vendor's website. A kill reason doesn't mean you have a virus, it means that your connection details match previous troublesome connections and that you MAY - NOT DO - have the said infection.

Then and only then, if it turns out you are infected then the AV software should clean the virus up for you.

* pheonix thanks sladekraven, as he forgot about housecall, performed a scan just now and uncovered 162 infected files that norton didn't pick up

Matrix2 is a -simple- mIRC Worm Script.

No Anti-Virus software will detect or clean Matrix2.

To remove Matrix2, type //!unload -rsn Matrix2 | !remove Matrix2

You can also manually open your Script Editor (Alt+R) and look at the View Menu. Select any scripts you are unfamiliar with, then goto File > Unload. You may also delete these files from your mIRC directory.

To keep from getting this and Script Trojans & Worms like it, don't trust/believe what random people come up and tell you. Don't download pirated movies or software. Porn is Ok, but only if it's tasteful.
