I was online on DALnet along with both of my bots, then got pinged out. Tried reconnecting and couldn't get on any server. I disconnected from my isp, reconnected and still couldn't get online. So I disconnect again, rebooted, reconnected to my isp again and still can't connect to DALnet. I have since defragmented my hard drives, rebooted and reconnected again to my isp and STILL can't connect to DALnet. I have tried all the servers in the current /links from which a friend emailed me with and several tries from http://edk.dyndns.org/servers/ and STILL can't connect to DALnet. I have use of my email and can use IE .. Can anyone give me an idea as to why I can't connect to DALnet please.

More information needed - What is the reason given by the server for the refusal? There should always be a message of some sort.

I don't get any message from the server because it will not let me even connect. All I get is 'connection time out' messages. My firewall doesn't even pick up anything either upon trying to connect to any of the DALnet servers and usually I do when connecting.

Are you using the "irc.dal.net" address or the address of a particular server?

I am NOT using irc.dal.net .. am using the specific addresses of each server .. also have tried using different ports too but no success yet in connecting

Strange... Have you tried connecting with a copy of plain mIRC or connecting to other networks?

I tried powertech.no.eu.dal.net and got in. If you can't get on there then it must be something to do with your connection.

I am at home, I haven't changed any settings on my firewall. The only things I did do earlier was unload some scripts on both my bots and loaded new ones which I wrote myself. This is not the first time I've had this problem and no doubt probably won't be the last. I have done anti-virus scans and also ad-aware scans, nothing bad detected.

Try connecting with /remote off - see if your script is the problem?

There's nothing wrong with the scripts. Been using my own script for quite some time now with no problems. Also one of my bots I've been running for several years and my 2nd bot for over a year, both with no problems. I know sometimes when I connect to my isp that if I try to connect to jade server that I get local-banned. I don't know why and can't find out why because the message says to email them about it but says they won't reply. I've been coming to DALnet since around 1997 and never had that problem before til this year.

It was just a suggestion. If you're still having problems surely it's worth a try?

Please realize that since there can be many causes for some problems, all we can do is suggest things to try. Like in this case, turn remotes off, try a virgin copy of mIRC, doublecheck your firewall, try connecting to ip rather than domain or vice versa (in the event you/your isp are having dns probs), try different networks etc. I know its frustrating, but in most cases it doesnt hurt to at least try them.

You could also open DOS and see if the server is contactable from your connection by pinging it.
C:\>ping 195.159.0.91
If the server is reachable then you'll get a reply similar to this:
Reply from 195.159.0.91: bytes=32 time=537ms TTL=232 Reply from 195.159.0.91: bytes=32 time=519ms TTL=232 Reply from 195.159.0.91: bytes=32 time=518ms TTL=232 Reply from 195.159.0.91: bytes=32 time=516ms TTL=232
If unsuccessful, you'll get a total loss of packets which means that either you have a firewall that is set too strongly: (EG Ports closed or programmes barred) or perhaps a routing issue at your ISP is preventing access for some reason.

I have tried all sorts of different things here and as mentioned in a previous post. I know you guys are trying to help and I appreciate it, however, I've checked, double-checked, triple-checked everything here and can't find anything wrong. A few minutes ago I rebooted and reconnected to my isp again and still no luck with any scenario in connecting. .. I give up
