how are we able to show the names of the people that are in there.... including the invisible people..?

Umm...somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but invisible mode just means that you can't see any other channels someone is in when you /whois them. laugh

That too, but what I was getting at is that there is no way for a user to not show up in the user list of the same channel(s) you are on.

You are travelling through another dimension.
A dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind.
A journey into a wounderous land whose boundaries are that of imagination.
That's the sign-post up ahead ... your next stop:

the Desynched Nick/Channel Zone.

There is actually a mode that will make it so that the nicklist is only visible by the operators.

From the help for the server I'm on...

*** UnrealIRCd Channel Modes ***
-
u = "Auditorium". Makes /NAMES and /WHO #channel only show Operators.

Dont feel stupid, we all have to learn!

Invisible is a mode, rather than a script. It doesnt really make you invisible, it just makes it harder for ppl to find you unless they know the exact spelling of your nick or are in the same channel that you are.

In mIRC's connect dialog (file/connect) at the bottom you will see a box to check to set invisible mode. You can also do it by typing /mode $me +i or /mode yournickname +i
You have to use the / so that mIRC knows you are sending a command. Once you set it, look at the top of your status window, next to your nick you will prolly see [+i]

Altho its specific to DALnet, the document at http://docs.dal.net/docs/modes.html#3.1 has some info on user and channel modes you may find helpful
