That has nothing to do with your router, if you are getting that it means your router is working perfectly. What that error means is that the server doesn't let people from your ISP or geographical region connect. This is very common on EFnet. So the solution is to try a different server (one that is closer to you geographically). Also the 255.255.255.255 has nothing to do with your netmask, it simply shows that to hide your real IP...
I had tried several servers and I was getting simmilar error messages.
The machine IP is one that is not the same as the cable modem.
The Modem is plugged into the router and my machine is plugged into the router and I gave it a unique IP address and have the router doing port forwards for mirc.
I get so stumped by mirc that I install it then try it a couple times then let it hang ont he machine till I want to try again.
This time I thought I was start asking questions...
It seems to work now that I put the machine in question into the DMZ. My software firewall is watching the doors I hope.
I hope I dont make my reply sound off color. I am a bit confused. Ummm why would it matter if I would have disclosed the server in question?
Several of the servers on effnet at the time of my posted message also yielded similar results.
I also was frustrated that Mirc kept un doing my typed in IP address. It was the one from the cable modem. Though the machine I was on has the router IP address of 192.168.1.10 and the modem is a 24.x.x.x address.
I do think there is a inexperience with mirc in play on my end. I admit that.
Oh one other thing that confuses me. This is a family PC. SHould I be setting as Local Host - SERVER or Local Host Normal ?
For the longest time I left it at "server"
I just looked at MIRC in the CONNECT>Local_Info area and while my machine is in the DMZ I see my long IP as well as my short ip.
If I take my machine out of the DMZ then it will display either nothing at all or the 192.168.1.10 address instead.
In case the Ident idea comes up. I have it set at : Enable (also in router it is set) port 113 "Show Ident Requests"
In the firewall I dont have anything configured. I left it alone. So whatever mirc installs it as that is where it is now.
I just hope when I take my machine out the DMZ it will not go back to acting contrary to my hopes.
Also had troubles with Quake3 until I went DMZ. my friend took down his server so I suppos soon I will go bback to no DMZ mode and I hope mirc wont be different again.
