Hi everyone. I have a proposal to all the mIRC scripting experts/new people here at the board. I am not new to mIRC at all (have been using it since February of 2000). I do have *some* scripting experience with mIRC, scripting is a fun thing to do, but I have never made any exciting scripts worth looking at.
If anyone posted script in here or asked me to do something with script I may be able to, with a little reading up on scripting topics, although I would appreciate pre-written script..
I was wondering if there was a script out there or if someone could write a script that would
1. send all or specified user-typed messages (the messages you type to a channel or query or DCC) to a special "container" (using variables, maybe?) for use later, so that (see 2.)
2. they can be recalled quickly by looking them up in a specially designed dialog box and when the messages are double-clicked from the dialog (many messages at once can be highlighted, and can be set to a delay so they don't flood a room), they would be entered into a chat room again just as they were typed before.
3. The dialog box would consist of a drop-down box that allows to search for all messages typed to a nickname (remember, the messages that will be selected are the user's own messages), by chat room or by date or all. (Okay, that may be a stretch, but I can dream!) The dialog box also has a text area that shows the messages typed recently (the main selection area) and the user could select more than one message for use in a conversation or file server.
I do go to IRC that have File Servs. It will be helpful to me (or it could be helpful to anyone else who uses DCC file servers) because when on IRC, I could easily cycle through messages in the dialog that were typed previously in a DCC server (in case I exited the server recently) so I don't have to type out directories over and over.
You may ask, why don't I just use the arrow keys to cycle through messages? Good question! Partly because it takes a while to do this, especially if I look up something further back and then I want to look up something closer to when I typed - it gets to be a pain.
I'm using mIRC v. 6.03.
Due to my lack of advanced scripting knowledge I may not have any crazy-useful scripts to give in return for this favor, but if it were done I would be grateful..It doesn't sound like the easiest thing in the world, but I believe it can be done - and then some.

Fservs are usually used to transfer copyrighted material. Because of that, you will most likely not get help with your request here since it is against the forum's policy to help with warez/mp3s/movies/etc. If you want a script to do this, learn that Google is your friend and run a search.

Google didn't give you viruses, your "I'll click any link" attitude gave you 6 viruses. I've been using Google since it first started, and I've never gotten a single virus from using Google even though I run about 50-100 searches a day.

Sounds like a more complicated script that would take some time designing and working out the kinks.
But I'll do anything for money! I accept PayPal.

Well thats like saying you won't breathe anymore because you caught the flu by breathing in air that contained the influenza virus. Google didn't do it, google is just the medium in which is occurs. Google doesn't and shouldn't scan for viruses.

This is ridiculous. First time here under this nickname and I already get a warning about posting. Since when did I mention I was downloading warez/mp3s/movies/etc. ?
Now, I don't know if anyone is not replying with a logical answer to this message box thing because of what you said or what I said - no one knows except the 40 or more people who have read this post and passed it by.
I could be downloading pics of naked ladies for all you know. (Which is completely legal, depending on which pictures you get if you know what I mean.)
I know what you'll say though - "that most porno on IRC is illegal." - well - some of it isn't...However, it's my say versus the moderators. Have fun locking the topic! (I got off to a bad start and I know it.)
P.S. I can't seem to find anything on google that's worth looking at. What should I search for that will produce good results?

I don't see any fault in asking a question about FServs, considering that mIRC has one built in. Your script request has nothing to do with downloading files, all you want to do is grep data from your message buffers.
The problem is starting a project of this scale, as it requires a bit of dialog programming, and creating an efficient hashtable structure which does everything you asked about.
I would be inclined to do this if I had personal use for it, but I don't. I would recommend looking up the On Input event and Hash Tables in the help file, to begin. Your next big step will be creating a /dialog, unless a custom /window would be satisfactory.

How can you rationally blame google or any search engine for getting virus? Its a search engine, you ask it to search, it answers... its up to you to click or not and where. Search engines arent virus scanners, they do one thing: search. You're on your own from there. Not much diff than if someone on IRC told you to click an url, its your choice to click. Are you going to blame IRC cause it allowed someone to point you in an urls direction? mIRC cause you used it and someone posted with it? Your browser cause its how you opened the url? Goggle is certainly my friend, but i still use common sense about what to click on.

-just because codemastr politely advised you of a policy doesnt mean you need to get defensive over it and start ranting.
-have you considered the ppl who viewed your post and didnt answer did so because they dont know the answer? Or perhaps arent interested in the subject? dont want to spend their free time creating a custom script for you?
- However, it's my say versus the moderators. Have fun locking the topic! (I got off to a bad start and I know it.)
Personally i'm not about to waste my time on some esoteric discussion of legal vs illegal porn. When we lock a thread, we do so with common sense. If you want to leap to the raging assumption that we lie in wait to lock threads for grins then this start isnt going so well either. Accept that not everyone will jump to reply to your satisfaction.
