I don't have any problems with connecting, I can connect.
But.. it takes ages. I haven't had this when I had a Dial Up connection.

When I connect, I get this(which is a good thing):

(20:17:53) * Connecting to uk.quakenet.org (6667)
(20:17:53) -uk.quakenet.org- *** Looking up your hostname
(20:17:53) -uk.quakenet.org- *** Checking Ident
(20:17:53) -uk.quakenet.org- *** Found your hostname

It takes 1 minute(ages!) to get this:

(20:18:53) -uk.quakenet.org- *** No ident response
(and so on......)

I'm behind a Draytek Vigor 2200E and I have a Cable Modem. I am sure more people have this problem(I know a few).
I couldn't find it anywhere in (ALOT of) FAQ's nor this forum.

Enable port forwarding on your router for port 113 and the problem should be fixed.

You probably get to say that like 3000 times codermastr, hehe. Problem is, I think my router doesn't forward ports well. But thanks, I'll give it a go.

If it doesn't have port forwarding, you can see if it has a DMZ setting. If it does, you can try setting that, but only do it when you are using mIRC because DMZ sorta eliminates the firewall feature.

I know mate, I can't use DMZ. Firewall all *** up. My router supports port forwarding, but it doesn't work.
I have already tried it with my webserver but it just doesn't forward. I'm going crraaazy, really.

There are TONS of posts regarding identd, including the one at the top of this forum, Enable Identd, in which i mention that perhaps a standalone identd server may solve some probs. You can find a couple listed at DAlnet's identd info page and here Dunno if this would work in your case tho

When you do a search, set it to All Forums and expand the date range to get the best results.
