[a lot of bad words goes here]
I do not like the gfx smilys on the mIRC homepage, not becouse theyre ugly, but becouse they have not much or nothing to do with mIRC, it's a forum, ok, but anyway... mIRC and IRC sould be text based, as it was supose to be..
i know that many agree with me, some even hate the colours in mIRC (ctrl+k), i would like a lot of comments here.

If you use the search feature here using the word 'smileys' or 'graphics', and expand the search to all forums and all dates, you'll see that this topic has already been done to death.

Im not sure I agree with you about forum smileys. I do absolutly agree that in mirc its text-based, and should stay thatway. However, a forums in my eyes seems to be a little different. I mean you have the capability of posting pictures, why not smilys? A forums to me is a a whole different form of chat, and doesn't get tiresome to see maybe 10 or even 100 smileys randomly through posts, rather than have that same number in mirc in an active channel with about 10-15 lines every couple of seconds scrolling by. Then it just becomes a nuesance, and just takes up space.

Anyways, "That's my story--and I'm stickin to it."

I meant that the topic of smileys in mIRC has been done to death, not smiley's in forums. Just my humble opinion, but I kinda like the smileys on here - but mainly cos they don't fly past the screen at a rate that makes your head spin. Which they would do if they were implemented in mIRC, no doubt. grin

Nothing to do with mIRC? The mIRC logo itself has a smiley in it! wink

I think this topic is just a case of someone who is just searching for something to complain. Almost every forum offers smileys these days and most people like them.

If you don't like a feature then turn it off.

Indeed, this whole thing does seem to be a little pedantic and even cynicle. It's just smiley's....no need to put a downer on everything.

I'm not a particular fan of colours in mIRC though...especially not in a channel with lots of people and lots of chatting. A forum though? Stop whining :P

Happy chattin!
