If any coder/developers are paying attention to this PLEASE change back to the old way of changing channel topics. In mIRC 5.71 and previous, you had a square text box of the whole topic and could change it fairly easy. Now you have a dropdown box, having to arrow over and over, with history of old topics. This is all but useless and tedius, i beg of you to change it back, make it an option!, or show me some way to manually do it myself. Thanks =) I ask because this is the sole reason I am still using the older version, i change topics OFTEN, and newer mIRC versions just arent worth it.

I 100% agree, it is incredibly annoying when you have a long topic and you want to change something that is at the end of the topic, you have to scroll over until you get to the part you want to change.

Yeah that would get you to the END of the line. But if the topic is ONLY ONE LINE, then your at the end. What if you wanna change something in the middle? What if you just wanna LOOK, its all very tedius, and i just dont understand why its not how it used to be. AT THE VERY LEASY, an option to have it like it used to be? =)

Beginning: [Home]
End: [End]
Middle: Hold ctrl and press right arror (word skip)
View: Thats what the channels titlebar is for, or the channel itself. Look after *Topic is '* in the channel.

or even..

menu channel {
Change Topic: /editbox -af //topic $active $chan($active).topic
}

Puts it in the channel editbox

OK King, those are all nice ways of getting around something that could and should be easier to begin with?

Ok I want to edit word 47 out of 81. My choices are either ctrl+right 47 times, or ctrl+left 34 times. And viewing is what the titlebar is for? "NETWORKS's official scripting advice channel | Good scripters wanted.. ap..." Note the "..." that doesn't appear in the channel's actual topic, thats where the titlebar has cut off the rest of the text. In fact it cut off "ply within | If you want to try mQ's script you can download it from http://URL| Got a scripting question? Ask in the channel and wait for an operator to assist you." So I fail to see the titlebar being the best way to view the topic.

The "change topic" doesn't fix anything. You still have it being displayed in a single line editbox. But you really haven't provided a reason why it shouldn't be changed, just some alternatives. Everyone knows we could just type /topic #chan but thats not what is being asked for.

Yea I know... imho, the best way to do it would be to sorta seperate the topic history from the actual topic text. Something like:

Topic: This is the current topic for the channel!
(that is displayed in a multiline editbox)

Topic History: Current
June 7, 2003 (19:32:34)
June 3, 2003 (05:45:32)
(displayed in a dropdown list below the editbox)

When you change the topic history dropdown list (which lists the current topic, as well as the date/time previous topics in the history were set), it changes the text in the multiline editbox to whatever that specific topic contains. Thats way everyone is happy. There is a multiline editbox so the whole topic can be easily seen/editted, and the topic history remains intact and actually (imho) is better because it now shows the date/time the topic stored in the history was set.
