Please don't tell me anything about "MSN Sucks."
But, I have my script connected to MSN. I'm wondering how to make it so, I right click in the channel (Popups menu) and click "Time Talker" a popup comes up ($$?="Enter Message") and then when I type a message, in the MSN chat room it'll say: Leper`Messiah's local time: <The message I put>
I used to have this, so I know it's possible, but I forgot how. Someone please help, I tried various forms of "/ctcpreply $chan TIME $$?="Enter Message" but they don't work. I tried putting $Chan and $Nick too..

you--are--retarted...
/command - run command under normal circumstances .command - Run under "quiet" mode /.command - yup, quit mode again
The "/." doesn't mater..

The default /ctcpreply command is exactly as king described it.. unless you are using a /ctcpreply alias then it does the same thing with a dot and without, it just hides what it does if you use a dot.

That is mIRC script syntax, it makes no difference where you use it.

If you want custom aliases & identifiers to recognize the dot, you can use $show $show Returns $false if a command is prefixed with a . to make it quiet, otherwise returns $true

Yeah I know..but it's still a remote possibility that the person who wrote the ctcpreply alias (supposing he has one) decided he'd use the . for something else.

Type //echo -a $isalias(ctcpreply). If you get $false..then you're talking out of your ass: /ctcpreply and /.ctcpreply do the same thing, but the latter hides that it is doing it.

pheonix im disapointed in you once again ... havent we had this msn debate till we were all blue in the face with u.
the problem with your reasoning is that no matter where mirc connects to it still only works with the same basic commands ...... UNLESS U SCRIPT AROUND THEM.
now with that said ...... if you have an alternative /ctcpreply alias then u also need to post that along with your useless help from above ...... if u cant help fully and be able to explain your answers fully then dont bother posting ....... if you dont bother posting when ur just not sure or just dont know then no one will be trashing u for what you post
please read the help file ....... ive got my 7 yr old reading it to me and understanding it ..... if u cant understand some of it then ill be glad to give u my phone number and ill let my child explain things to u

I think you could stop with that discussion... I used to script on MSN and the command for ctcpreply uses /. , not /ctcpreply nor .ctcpreply

MSN is not a very normal server, for instance, banning requires /Access $chan Add Deny $address($nick,1) not some mIRC commands do not work on MSN, nor some MSN commands work on most other IRC servers

If you doubt me, just try scripting on MSN and try using /ctcpreply or .ctcpreply

But command prefixes are mIRC things. They're not sent to the server!
No matter if you type /ctcpreply or /.ctcpreply, server gets only CTCPREPLY.
Unless, of course, you have your own /ctcpreply alias, or you're using sockets to send it.

yes but what your describing there isnt mirc commands ...... your describing server commands ......... a ctcpreply is a mirc command which sends a signal from ur machine to the others with whatever information ur providing along with it ........ this accesscrap your talking about is just ircx commands to ban someone ........ its like internally built services into the ircd....... with that said u need to read my above post to him about my child and the help file .......

You are very sure /ctcpreply $chan TIME works, you should try doing that command connected to MSN - so that you wouldn't doubt anymore - because MSN isn't just your normal IRC Server

ok lets go slowly for u then .... if u type ctcpreply $chan TIME mirc is going to send a ctcpt reply from your machine out to the channel ...... regardless of whether the server recognizes that command or not its a mirc command putting these prefixes on it wont change the fact it is still sent ........ read the help file on prefixes

Ok, the problem is that the server will not respond if you perform the command /ctcpreply $chan TIME but will respond to the command /.ctcpreply

lol i doubt highly u really realize what your saying the server has nothing to do with a ctcp unless its ignoreing it thru modes of some kind ...... if the one works the other would have to work ...... mirc sends commands thru ctcpreply whether u prefix it with any of the default mirc prefixes or not ....... when u send that ctcp your sending your time to the entire channel ..... try doing it with a specific user and see what happens maybe they have modified it so u cant send a ctcp to everyone in a channel as it will flood a room

Lets try to clear this up once and for all...
Command Line Command Sent:
/ctcp ChanSys TIME -> <network> PRIVMSG ChanSys :TIME .ctcp ChanSys TIME -> <network> PRIVMSG ChanSys :TIME /.ctcp ChanSys TIME -> <network> PRIVMSG ChanSys :TIME
Enough said. Now, no matter what is typed in mirc the same command line is sent to the server

no it is much different, to connect to msn you need to use a series of dll's and everything and the maker of the connection has obviously made his own mirc commands simply because msn attempted to ban mirc

as he said at least twice, msn isnt a normal server as mirc is 'banned' there, so therefore msn isnt going to recognise standard mirc commands is it, no, so therefore maybe that is just a mirc command created by the maker of the connection inside a dll or ocx etc, all were saying is the / prefix and the . prefix do not work in msn! it has to be /.

oheonix listen to me really slowly i will say this yet again for u .......
1: typing ./ctcp PING #CHAN isnt a server command ...... its not really anything to do with the server ....... but it may have been blocked ........ now with that said if u type the command your mirc will still send it ..... u just wont get a reply no matter what u do .....
ok so lets recap this ppl are complaining they cant use thier mirc on a server that they arnt supposed to be anyhow ..... and come here to get an answer because they cant figure it out ...... then whine about the answers given to them
well for all of those ppl i will only say this one simple thing /debug @Debug and type the command in msn servers ..... u will see it sends it its just ignored by server
its a shame u Cant Understand Normal Thinking, but im seriously tired of saying the same exact things over and over to ppl who just dont get it. do not bother posting back to me as whatever your going to say is probably the same thing uve said last month before crying and apologizing or its the same thing all the msn ppl have said either i care not to hear it

i never said it didnt send but i meant it didnt work meaning: there is no point in sending a ctcp if youre not going to get a response.........

ok so your honestly telling me that mirc sends the ctcp out from it using any method but it only returns it if u use both prefixes? well then how in the hell would anyone here in this forum be able to answer a question that changed the mirc standard protocals of how it delivered commands when this dll or ocx (lmfao) or whatever the hell u wanna call it, is written by someone else?

ok just so u know i surely do know what im saying its quite plain and simple read this post un the connection uissues forum sticky thread even MSN NOT WANTING MIRC THERE Parabrat a moderator here had emailed MSN chat directly and asked exactly what your telling me im wrong about ...... so if your wondering where im getting this info from there ya go ..... straight from MSN ...... THEY DO NOT WANT ANYTHING OTHER THAN THIER SOFTWARE BEING USED ON THIER SERVERS ok now how does that translate to me being wrong and u being right? because last i know ive said MSN doesnt want MIRC on thier servers ..... plainly that falls under the catagory u have no f$*king clue what your saying ....... now dont post the im wrong comment again to this thread ... it should be closed because u Cant Understand Normal Thinking ...... and not read things and find out fact before you look ignorant
