One thing that comes up on occasion is that a bot will kick/ban someone from a channel, and they have no reasonable means (without scripting) to message an op from that channel because the nicklist is blanked. Leaving the nicklist visible will also help someone understand who was opped at the time of a channel takeover.
Considerations: ison isop ishelp isvoice isreg $comchan() should still be ignored if the channel .state == kicked.
