I'm not sure what the cause is, so if anyone can help me to troubleshoot this I'd be happy to help. In general, within 30 minutes of opening mIRC it will freeze and require a force-close through Task Manager. Occasionally it will get past this point and then stay open for hours without problems, but it seems to be random to do that.

I'm using Windows 7 64 bit, and mIRC 7.45. If anyone knows what's going on, please let me know.

Most likely custom scripts are causing it, so either fix or remove them.

More than a bit late to edit the last post, so: next time mIRC freezes, press CTRL+Break. If it's a script causing the freezing, mIRC will halt the script, and you'll be able to see what and where was halted.

My laptop does not have a break key. I was able to fake it by using the laptop's function shortcut for it, and also with the Windows onscreen keyboard feature, and did not effect a change in either case during a freeze. I don't have any scripts that I'm aware of, aside from some basic alias shortcuts like Nickserv identification. Any other possibilities?

One possible reason for this type of issue is that you are using scripts or addons, usually DLLs, that need to be updated.

If you type the following command into the status window in mIRC and press the enter key, what are the results?

Quote:
//echo -a $os $version $beta $md5($mircexe,2) $file($mircexe).sig $alias(0) $script(0) $dll(0) $com(0)

Another possible reason is anti-virus software that is interfering with mIRC. If you add an exception to mIRC in your anti-virus software, does that resolve the issue?

Finally, you could try re-installing mIRC v7.45 using a full install, which will overwrite all of your existing settings, to see if that helps resolve the issue.

The Echo gives the following:
7 7.45 a6280d15e18b1c0d849664930754beda ok 1 1 0 0

I've checked with both my AV and my firewall, and there are no reports from mIRC causing problems. I was not able to find a place to add an exception within my AV for mIRC, but I confirmed one was present in my firewall.

I've noticed a trend with the crashes over the last two days, is that it will not crash overnight, from about 10PM on, I do not get any crashes at all. Come morning, between 8 and 9 AM, even if I left it on overnight with no issues at all, it will freeze at some point around that time and return to the 30-minute crashes.

I haven't done a reinstall yet... if the above doesn't give any useful info, I'll try that next.

This indicates that you are using a version of mIRC that has been modified. Please download the official version of mIRC from the mIRC website. If the crash continunes with that version, let us know.
