Hello,

I wanna ask if it is possible to add more than '50000' value on this option in Options -> Other -> Window buffer X lines something like unlimited ? or an much higher value?

- Thanks!

Yes. Up to at least 10 million lines. If you go much higher then mIRC will exceed its 2GB ram limitation.

I haven't tested, but it may be possible to edit a larger value into mirc.ini

I agree, users should be allowed to increase this value from the settings dialog. I use 1 million line buffers in custom @windows with several of my log grepping scripts. I just wouldn't recommend having more than 10 or 15 of these large windows open.

Because then people who join 50 channels (I'm in 200 channels) will find that mIRC crashes after a week or few.

Before, 50000 was the limit. It recently has been extended for custom windows (intentionally, I hope), using -jN you can specify a number such as 10 millions and that will work. However note that getting a custom windows with 10 millions lines (I made the test) will make mIRC takes a lot of memory. depending on your configuration, mIRC can occupy a maximum of 2GB or 4GB of ram ( read ) . If you reach this maximum, you'll get one of these errors:
Quote:
* Error allocating command memory
* Error allocating token memory
* /cmd: error allocating memory
Meaning mIRC can no longer allocate memory and it's tricky for an application to stay alive after getting an error regarding memory allocation, so be careful. In my test, I wasn't able to close/reboot mIRC properly, it would stay in memory after closing it (although the UI disappeared), /run mspaint wouldn't work either.

2GB is the max, regardless of operating system or hardware. mIRC is not large address space aware, so 2GB is a hard limit.
