Because mIRC is coded by one person, and because that one person doesn't want to spend his free time porting it? Sounds simple enough to me. And don't even bother with the 'well why not make it open source', I think anyone with half a mind can figure out why that won't happen.

Or maybe thats not the reason at all. Maybe Khaled just plain doesn't want to, maybe he doesn't like Linux, maybe he's got a pact with Bill Gates, who knows? Bottom line, it's been said 1000 times that it won't happen. I doubt that'll change anytime soon, if it does, you'll know it when it's announced.

well said starbucks smile

While i can understand ppl asking, and why they may want changes to suit their preferences, the fact remains, mIRC is written by Khaled and will be done as he chooses. If he wants to spend his time on windows and not others OSs thats just the way it is... and fine with me. He does lots of things to please his users, but if he tried to make every single person happy, he'd fast go insane... and then who would feed arnie??

Last I checked, Lindows is basically a "idiot proof" Linux, meaning it is easy to install. As for running win programs, it just uses Wine for that, so it's nothing special compared to what you can do on any Linux machine.

If you want to chat on linux try using X-Chat. Besides Khaled said alot of times its not going to be ported to Mac, linux, unix, etc. its hard to develop in windows and port to linux with put special software, or linux, as i know right now.
He could even hate linux or mac. who knows?

Can you imagine rewriting tons of codes, and changing everything just to make everybody happy.
If mIRC is done only by one person that person must be mad to port a win program to *nix.
I think even a win16 version is dead now, so what can we say about something else... ???
