Hi,

I suggest that there would be an option that will make mirc log line colors too (if you /echo 3 asdf then the line color will not be looged, it will if you /echo <Ctrl-K>3asdf) and especially the colors of its own messages.
Also another switch that removes the "Logging started" text.
Why? Because I want my script to reload the logfile on join and display the text exactly as it was when i left irc.
Currently it looks bad frown

I never logg ... so I might be shooting blanks here...

in ALT+O => IRC => Logging i find .. alot of checkboxes that whould suggest suport of ONE stuff you just said...

Strip Codes - It whould be logical if this ment CONTROL codes (bold, underline, color, normal, reverse) - Having this unchecked whould in turn logg the codes aswell.

Note as I said I might be shooting blanks ... but what else chould it mean ?

That's no problem. The probelm is:
/echo 3 Hello!
won't save the line color 3 to the file.
I want't it to save the line color like this:
/echo <Ctrl+K>3 Hello!
When it's mirc's own message (like connection timed out, invalid parameters and so on)
That's because I want to display the log file before I join the channel, so I have a preview where I last was. And the colors would be a lot of better than gray text

Logging stopped

(an examle, not an actual logfile)

just do a replace during your read ???

it would be pointless to log those colors, because alot of people have totally diverent color scheme

If it ain't broken, don't fix it!

That's the point, to log the color scheme.
I use no color scheme (no script) but I want the Action lines and Whois lines to appear in the log as they would appear when I typed /me or /whois
Got it?

I see why people keep getting confused on this matter, but I agree that there should be a Logging Option to include these color values in the log file, some how.

A Line Color is what makes Joins green and Quits blue and Notices a darkish-red/maroon. A Control Code Color is what allows you to make certain words a different color, by using the <Ctrl+K> character. The only problem here is that Line Colors, or even, Event Types aren't represented by any character(s) and as it stands there is nothing to log it as.

Pros: A number would allow you to re-colorize the text as it's read from a log.
Cons: It leaves an unusual number that proceeds every line of text... and it leaves open the door to someone wanting each event type identified (to distinguish events that share the same color).
