Forums mIRC Help Setting up mIRC on a "server"

Hello peeps,

I was wondering if I could like set up my mIRC with scripts etc, without having any computers on. Something like running it on my router or something. Or do I need a server for that...

Having my computer on all the time can get a little bothering sometime (I'm using Windows 7 on that computer if that makes any difference.).

I'd be glad to hear your solutions!

What you're looking for is called a bouncer, or bnc; this is a program which runs on a remote server and maintains connections to all of your networks. mIRC then connects to this bouncer instead of directly to the networks itself. ZNC is a popular bouncer you can try out. I'd imagine it'd be small enough to run on a router.

So... Will this still run all my scripts? And I got a router which hasn't got anything besides an USB port... xD

That you're asking these questions is a testimony that you won't be doing it.

The bouncer will not run all your script, it only keep your connection alive, If you want all your script to work, then you need to keep your script running 24/7, and for that you need a computer that are up and running and connected to the net all the time.
