Hi,

I was away from home for almost a week and when I came back, I found that my PC (running Windows 7) had rebooted because of automatically downloaded Windows updates.

Ever since that reboot, mIRC seems to have lost the location of it's files, like scripts, remotes, settings, serverlist, etc.. and is behaving like a clean install.

Going by the scripts editor window, it is looking in C:\Users\<My Username>\AppData\Roaming\mIRC\, while my files have always been in C:\Program Files x86\mIRC\

When I try to point the scripts editor to the right files by, for example, loading my old and trusted remote.ini from the Program Files folder, it just shows me an empty window and the counter in the lower right-hand corner claims the filesize is 0.0k, even though when I open that same remote.ini in notepad, it's a 14.6k file with all my trusted scripts that I have gathered over the past 15 years.

When I try and copy those files over to the AppData location, still nothing changes.

Does anyone have an idea on how to remedy this annoying situation?

you settings for the script are in the mirc.ini file...if the install folder doesnt have that file it looks for mirc.ini in the C:\Users\<My Username>\AppData\Roaming\mIRC\ which is almost always just the plain mirc settings .. so always keep a copy of the mirc.ini and drop it into your install folder .. then you can delete the one in C:\Users\<My Username>\AppData\Roaming\mIRC\ .. hope that helps
