I've had problems with connecting (in particular reconnecting) to irc.oftc.net using SSL since the 7.29 upgrade, and reading the new features I've done a bit of investigation. When connecting to irc.oftc.net you connect to one of a number of different servers (e.g. charm.oftc.net, larich.oftc.net, graviton.oftc.net) but if you say to trust the certificate next time you connect it stores the certificate hash in servers.ini against the server irc.oftc.net, so if you reconnect and get directed to a different server than last time you get the same prompt again (different server, different certificate - and so automatic reconnect is likely to fail).

Thanks this issue has been fixed for the next version.

The reason it was not working is that of the ten or so IRC networks that I tested, there were inconsistencies in how some SSL certificates were formatted and I was trying to cater for these. For certificates that were purchased through a certificate authority, there were no issues. However, self-signed certificates varied in how they were formatted ie. the type of information that they provided in different fields.

It appears that even with the fix for the next version, the new caching method (whose purpose is to notify you of changes to certificates) may still not work with some networks due to incorrectly formatted certificates. I am still looking into this.

I'm having the same problem on irc.rizon.net; they're also running self-signed certificates on their servers.
