Not sure that is a bug but cannot find any way to fix this, and I tried... and this happens with mIRC but not with Chatzilla.

One more thing, I am ALMOST sure that it used to work and it stopped to work at some point... no idea why.

Is this a bug or can I fix it somehow? Thanks.

I would not say this is a bug. I guess it is intended. How should mIRC display a title that long?

Chatzilla does it correctly. So do not see why mIRC does not... and as said I am sure it used to...

This is not a regression-- it is how 7.22 behaved. Titlebars seem to be clipped to a certain length. It might even be a Windows titlebar limitation.

Yes, this is a Windows limitation. The titlebar text for an MDI window is automatically clipped to a certain length when the MDI window is maximized and displayed in the main window titlebar. This has always been the case and applies to all versions of mIRC and all applications that use MDI windows.

mIRC is an MDI application, which means that it allows you to view and organize several windows at the same time. ChatZilla is not an MDI application. MDI windows are managed by Windows itself - a shortened titlebar for maximized MDI windows is a limitation of that feature unfortunately.

ok then can I have mIRC not show the topic in the title bar but show it somewhere else on the screen permanently?

Alternatively maybe scroll it if too long? (if possible...)

If you need information displayed in a way that is different to how mIRC normally displays information, your best option would be to write a script that does that for you.

I think there might be an issue with that.

Doing /titlebar @wid Test. causes the titlebar in the channel to change, but the moment someone says something or joins or whatever, it reverts back to the topic.

Is that/should that be normal procedure?; or should it wait until raw 331/332 gets sent by the server?

I wish I knew how I am just a stupid user wink

But I did not dream that it worked.... it does...

I noticed you removed my images. Is it forbidden to put such in posts? If so I apologize but I have to put another one to show how it does work... guess just not in the main window...

Yes, it will work if the MDI window is not maximized. If the MDI window is maximized, the window title is displayed in the main mIRC window titlebar, which is why it gets shortened. Unfortunately there is no way around that since that is how Windows displays MDI windows.

yeah got that... but I am happy to have a "solution" and confirmation that I did not dream it, so then before I did not have the window with the chat maximized just stretched to fit all the space... thanks for your patience.
