The /vol command doesn't do anything for me. I'm running Windows 7 and mIRC 7.19

Using /vol -v <number 1-65000 or something> or /vol -u(1|2), it just does nothing...

Works fine on Windows 7 32bit with mIRC 7.19 for me.

/vol -v 1

Check volume control and it's almost muted.

/vol -v 65000

Check volume control and it's almost maxed.

It doesn't work here either on v7.19 Win7 x64. It will only control the mIRC slider, regardless of switched used. I also tried running as admin with same results.

Are you trying to adjust sound in mIRC or out of mIRC? I'll have to double check tonight to see if it only affects mIRC's volume. I know that it definitely works in mIRC because Invision uses it for its MP3 player buttons and it works well there. I haven't worried about changing the volume from mIRC for anything else in a long time, so I can't remember for certain if it works for anything outside of mIRC.

Master (-v) system volume. I haven't used /vol in a very long time either, so I don't know when it stopped working. It probably stopped working correctly with Vista.

Ok, just got home to test. Yes, Windows 7 lets mIRC adjust only mIRC's volume without affecting the volume on anything else. You could probably adjust master volume with COM or something, but /vol will follow Windows' requirements on what an app can do. The help file should probably be updated to reflect that.

The master volume switch should still control the master volume on the system, otherwise the switch should be removed if it's no longer going to be supported. See this really old post describing the bug back when mIRC still lacked proper Vista support. I see this as a bug. /vol without -v should control mIRC's own volume, but with -v it should control the system's volume. Note that this *is* possible, and mIRC can do it.
