Have you registered your copy of mIRC?
If not, note that mIRC is a shareware program, not freeware.
When you initially downloaded mIRC, you were given a 30 day trial period. After that trial period you are, legally, required to register mIRC ($20 US) or stop using it.
Since you state that you've been using it for 3 years (possibly longer), you are definetly(sp?) over the 30 day trial period.

If you have registered mIRC, then the registration information was sent to your e-mail, and you should've kept it. If you didn't, you can get it replaced by going to Reglost

*Who* wants your password? The network? If the network asks for your password, then your nick is registered. If the nick is registered, a password is required. If you didn't set up a password for the nick, someone else may have. If you're talking about some other password, you will need to be specific.

Be careful about strangers asking for your password (even if you never had one and they want you to set one). If a server requires a password and you can't get to a help channel without one, check with the network's website.

Personally, if I ever came across a network that required a password even to join the help channel, I wouldn't be on that network for long. The idea of a help channel, imo, is to help people that don't know or are having difficulties. These people, usually, are newbies.
