I am tempted to bring up Ircle's original color specification that used unique characters to identify events, rather than colors. Hence this problem was not an issue.

Codes 16-98 are unused. This would be a smart way to use them. That or log events "raw" like colloquy.

That could work, but the problem with using 16-98 is that it prevents those from potentially being used in the future for additional colors. Of course, Khaled may decide to use some other method for additional colors or may decide never to add any more colors. In either of those cases, 16-98 would be fine to use for anything else we need.
