With v7.14 the right ALT key doesn't work with the normal shortcuts.. ALT+O, ALT+E, ALT+R, ALT+J, etc. It does still open menu items, though.

I guess most people use the left ALT key, including me, but the right one should work the same.

The right ALT key is a special key used for entering characters in different languages. You can learn about it here.

You are referring to AltGR, not the right Alt. AltGR is specific to the individual layout of each keyboard. And your more likely to find apps that use cntrl-alt keyboard shortcuts than Windows-key shortcuts. No one supports the Windows key and you can bet *everyone* has a windows key these days.

You are supposed to use cntrl-alt (right cntrl-alt) on keyboards that lack the AltGR key.

Other than using it to type the Euro... it doesn't seem to be used for anything with a U.S. layout.

I have to agree. Right ALT != ALTGR and shouldn't be treated as ALTGR. I'm sure keyboard layouts consider them to be different keys, so it shouldn't be hard to distinguish one from another.

I am afraid I have never seen a keyboard that has a right Alt key that is not AltGr. I will look into this but considering how much work it took to get AltGr working correctly in different situations, and that I don't have a keyboard or notebook that has a right Alt key that is not AltGr, trying to add support for it may not be easy.

Any US layout 101-key keyboard should have a right ALT instead of ALTGR. And just about any other US keyboard layout should as well. That page you linked to shows the non-ALTGR keyboards as well as explains the difference, though it doesn't comment as much on that difference since it's mainly focused on ALTGR.

being somebody who only programs in mirc, not anything else, couldnt there be a check in the windows registry for what keyboard type is being used or layout? I THOUGHT previous versions of windows had the keyboard map that you could change, so the settings have to be SOMEWHERE. As stated previously, users in the US have had right alt keys for AGES.
