I recently downloaded mIRC 7.1 from www.mirc.com. When I used 6.35, mIRC NEVER froze for me. I have not added ANY script to my remote.ini or any other loaded script file this year. Ever since I downloaded mIRC from www.mirc.com, mIRC freezes on startup. I downloaded 6.35 again and installed it somewhere else. This version seems to work.
further system information: I use Windows XP MediaCenter SP3, Dell Dimension 5150
What can I do to solve this?

(note: I repeated some information so it would be clear. Read the post closely before asking something I already clarified)

This could very well be related to UPnP. See here for more information. Does that help?

If it freezes before you can get to the Options dialog, you might have to stop the UPnP service.

Start > run > services.msc

Stop the service called "UPnP Device Host" or "Ultimate Plug & Play". Then if it doesn't freeze anymore, try to disable UPnP in mIRC itself.
