I recently bought a new laptop, an ASUS N61J. It has Windows 7 Home Premium on it.

I've used irc for years but never encountered a problem like this. Basically, the text-bar lags, to an extent where I have to wait ten to twenty seconds before the text I'm typing appears in the bar. It happens the most when mirc is in the background, but also happens appears to happen I bring up a channel that hasn't been looked at in a while. The weird thing is, I can press enter, and whatever I've typed, whether it's shown up on the screen or not, will go through and show up in the chat. Any ideas? I have a hard time believing it's a matter of computing power, as I don't do very intensive things on my laptop, that it is more than capable of handling.

Type this in mIRC, press ENTER, and paste the output here

Code:
//echo -a $os $version $md5($mircexe,2) $script(0) $dll(0) $com(0)

Is your cursor over the switchbar? This is a known issue with 6.35/Win7. Move your mouse off the switchbar.

If I recall correctly, Windows 7 shows as Vista for version 6.x

I also believe I read that mIRC 7.x (currently in beta testing) shows Windows 7 correctly using $os

It shows as 7 in mIRC 7.x. Any time a new OS comes out, it will show the previous OS until mIRC has a new version.
