I noticed some people cant be fingered, when you try it just gets stuck at "Waiting for reply...". Why is this?

Their firewall is probably blocking port 79 which is used for Finger, or they have the mIRC finger server disabled. Very likely both. In mIRC Type /help finger

It's because they've set up their program to not answer CTCP requests of that type.

For example, my mirc only answers CTCP pings. CTCP version, time and finger are disabled.

I don't think he means CTCP Finger. Also, mIRC doesn't wait for CTCP replies.

They have everything on default settings. To clarify im doing right click->finger.

Type /uwho nickname
If you click any the 4 CTCP buttons, and if the reply takes time (or there is no reply) you can read "Waiting for reply..." next to "Ctcp reply:"

I see no menu with this function. Do you run any script?
Anyway, if your friends are running a script, it could be blocking replies for CTCP finger.

Sorry i meant right click->info->finger.

And they have no scripts either.

It's either:

- the server is blocking some CTCP resquests
- they have an ignore entry that blocks CTCP.
- they have a remote script that halts CTCP replies.
