I had installed Mirc and using it since December..
but in january..i formatted my PC..
Before the format, MIRC was running good..but after the format..it doesnt allo me to Join channel that i want.
i dont now wats gone wrong in the settings...
THIS is the error i get :

* Connect retry #99 irc.bitsjointirc.net (6667)

* Unable to connect to server (Connection refused)
********************************************
The channel i connecting to join is #PBA
The IRC server is irc.bitsjointirc.net
Port is 6667
Any help wud be appreciable

That network and port work fine, so it's something on your end. Most likely, you have a router or firewall blocking the connection. Maybe when you formatted and reinstalled Windows, the Windows Firewall turned on and that could be your problem.

Windows Firewall is in your control panel.

MIRC is in my exceptions in the Firewall..but still same error..

Look to see if IRC is also an exception in your firewall.
I found that I had the same problem until I manually added IRC to the exceptions (not just mIRC).

i tried joining the channel whos server are already there in MIRc.
like ur channel #invision using the IRChighway serev..
but when i make a new server for irc.bitsjointirc.net , it doesnt allow me to connect...!

If you can connect to other networks, then either you need to try a different port for that network, or a specific server (or IP address of a server)), or you are banned from it for one reason or another.

Seeing the exact actual message that is received in the status window when the OP tries to connect should help eliminate as to whether it's a connection problem (ip address, server name, port etc.) rather than a server ban (g-line, k-line, etc.)
