Hi guys,

I'm having a problem with a leftover connection on quakenet.

All the times i connect to the server it says that my nickname is already in use. Now i dunno what to do to get me on the quakenet again frown

can you help me?

I really need that quakenet nickname because of pickups and other stuff

Thnx,

If you /whois the nick, do you see it online?
If you don't, inform the network opers about your problem and ask them to look for a local ghost.
If you do, ask them to kill your (persistent) ghost.

This issue should really be taken up with the network's staff.

PRAG|kiler4fun using *.quakenet.org QuakeNet IRC Server
PRAG|kiler4fun is authed as kiler4fun
PRAG|kiler4fun End of /WHOIS list.

First of all, is that your ghost (does the IP match yours)? If so, and the network services support it, you can use the GHOST command to kill that connection so you can change to that nick. If it doesn't have the GHOST command, then you have only 2 options... wait until it expires, which could take a few minutes or longer, or else ask an ircop to kill it for you.

If that isn't your ghost (the IP does *not* match yours), then someone else is using that nick-- and apparently is authorized on it. Either you didn't register the nick and someone else took it and registered it (that means it's not theirs and you can't do anything about it), or else you let your registration of the nick expire by not using it for X number of days and someone else took it and registered it (again, you can't do anything about it at this point), or else someone found out your password for the nick and has logged in with it (in this case, talk to an ircop about it and they may be able to do something for you).

I think you can't register you nickname on quakenet, it's just someone else using the nick, there's nothing he can do about it

so are you connecting to your sbnc or connecting to quakenet direct? if you bnc is running then you will see yourself as already online by connecting to quakenet direct
