What happens when you try to connect to either of the 3 server IPs that I get from the irc.swiftirc.net DNS record?

/server 83.149.112.71
/server 174.34.173.51
/server 78.159.100.188

(Reverse DNS entries for above IP addresses)
ixion.nl.eu.swiftirc.net
purple.swiftirc.net

Like i said i have no idea about mIRC 'lingo' so your first statement doesn't make sense to me (although it is probably quite easy i am quite new to this)

I tried all 3 :

/server 83.149.112.71
/server 174.34.173.51
/server 78.159.100.188

Getting this message each time :

-----------------------------------------------------------------
(15:49:05) * Trying to reconnect in 10 second(s)
(15:49:15) * Connecting to 174.34.173.51 (6667)...
(15:49:36) Error connecting to 174.34.173.51: No reply from server. The server may be currently experiencing difficulties. This error could also indicate a problem with your Internet connection. If your connection is otherwise working, security software (firewalls, anti-virus etc.) may be blocking access to IRC.
(15:49:36) * Trying to reconnect in 10 second(s)

-----------------------------------------------------------------
This on mIRC:

* Unable to connect to server (Connection timed out)
-
* Connect retry #3 78.159.100.188 (6667)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

I am also unsure as to what you mean by :
"(Reverse DNS entries for above IP addresses)
ixion.nl.eu.swiftirc.net
purple.swiftirc.net
deathknight.net "
-----------------------------------------------------------------

The reverse DNS stuff is just extra info.

The fact that you are getting the same error (please stick to error messages returned by plain mIRC), suggests to me your firewall is blocking your connection. This can be the cause of a recent (firewall) update or the installation of a new mIRC version.

Try to remove any exception for mIRC from your firewall settings and then re-add mIRC as a firewall exception.

Can you connect to other IRC networks or does the problem only occur with SwiftIRC?

All the servers you listed don't work, it's weird because i have used swiftswitch for ages but it randomly stopped working, so i uninstalled it and re installed mIRC and SwitchKit.

Both IRCs aren't working.

I have played around with the firewall before but nothing really works...

Thanks for your help so far anyway.

All 3 IPs I listed are SwiftIRC servers. Do other *networks* work? Some examples:
/server irc.efnet.net
/server irc.dal.net

similar response again for /server irc.efnet.net:

* Connecting to irc.efnet.net (6667)
-
* Unable to connect to server (Connection timed out)
-
* Connect retry #1 irc.efnet.net (6667) (dns pool)
-

However when i did /server irc.dal.net it worked but the channels i used to go in don't exist on this irc server? They are all empty.

* Connecting to irc.dal.net (6662)
-
-krypt.ca.us.dal.net- *** Looking up your hostname...
-
-krypt.ca.us.dal.net- *** Checking Ident
-
-krypt.ca.us.dal.net- *** Found your hostname

That means i'm still not on the SwiftIrc server doesn't it?

Are you trying to connect from a home connection?

Try this:
/server irc.swiftirc.net 6666

if that doesn't work, try

/server irc.swiftirc.net 8080

So apparently something (a firewall besides the Windows one, maybe your antivirus, maybe your router, or perhaps even your ISP) is blocking connections on the default (remote) IRC port 6667.
