idlerTimes is an IRC Chat based game invented in 2007 based on the concept of competitive idling as first experienced in room closures back on MSN Chat. This game is into its 18th month of nearly non-stop development bring it into its 9th version, and though it is currently experiencing its greatest reliability and longest periods of time without any part of it being reworked, due to its high level of complexity there is no current or future public version planned.
Idling simply means to remain motionless, it has gone on to mean anyone who in general is on IRC a lot or simply the act of being in a chat room, a lot. Back on MSN Chat when a chat room was closed, as they so frequently were, the residents or idlers of that room were typically the last people in it, the room being closed if you parted you would no longer be able to rejoin the room until it fell empty, split and was recreated. This recreation occurring a little over two minutes after a room fell empty, and it was vital to know the exact moment of the split, as a single person for the moment could put hundreds or thousands of split sockets on the room and almost guarantee themselves the next ownership of it, unless zerocool was splitting that is. And such was the honor of the last person to part the closed room, the knowledge of exactly when it would split.
idlerTimes, while not giving the thrill of do or die splitting MSN brought us on a near daily basis, does allow us that same prestige of being the most feared idler around through its display of their statistics, the idler no earthly person can top, The GODS of idleness as it were. Yes lethargy is now a sport.
