I have no problems with DCC in my favorite channels, unless I try to receive files from a server that is passive DCC only. mIRC says 'acceptin send', and basically freezes.
I have disabled the firewall (Comodo) with no help.
OS is Vista Home Premium.

Connection is DSL. any ideas?

*bump*

Am I the only person in the world that can't get passive DCC to work?

I also configured my router to forward all my mIRC ports, just in case. Still no work.

Passive DCC requires the receiver to have a correct firewall setup, not yourself (except in cases where a firewall interferes with outgoing connections). Turn DCC Passive off, double-check all your settings and try again.

I disabled the firewall, but never cycled the Passive switch. I'll give it a try. Appreciate the input!

Well 9/10 a DCC 'server' is used to distribute illegal files so I stick with my comment about this issue. I'm sorry if that upsets you.

mIRC has a built-in DCC server, so it's a feature in mIRC that people have a right to ask about. If you don't want to help with that for whatever reason then of course you don't have to, but if that's the case then don't respond. Nobody wants or needs to know your wild guesses about the percentage of legal files being served via DCC, nor do they care about your moral stances about random features in mIRC. This forum has a general policy about filesharing and illegal downloads, but there's nothing in any of these posts that suggests anything illicit is going on here and the problem itself is nothing to do with the number of files being sent or what they contain.

for anyone interested, it seems the problem was with my anti-virus.
If you have this problem, try disabling the firewall and the antivirus before going to any more exotic fixes.

and thanks Starbucks. Your points were spot on.
