Do you mean "won't" show if you use the command you pasted? If so, then it is a server problem/setting, not a mIRC bug.

Many networks have the quit/part reason function turned off. Or the IRCd simply doesn't support it.

i think with some servers if you are on any channel with mode +u, your quit message wont display and will insted show something like "Signed off" etc...

I've been having the same problem on different servers, which I know for a fact allow quit messages because I've seen other people use quit messages on the same server and channel that I'm on. In addition, I also run an IRCd on my PC for testing purposes, and have even had the same problem on there.

Type /debug @debug and see if it is actually sending a quit message.

Also try using /[color:red]!quit message[/color].

OK, here's what I got from the debug window.

-> efnet.xs4all.nl QUIT :tester
<- ERROR :Closing Link: adsl-209-78-18-72.dsl.renocs.pacbell.net (Client Quit)

This same server, only minutes earlier, displayed a quit message for one of my friends running a different client. My quit message (as seen by several other friends) was "Client Quit". I also noticed that when you disconnect by closing mIRC itself, it quits with your default quit message (again, as seen by friends online during testing). Perhaps the old "soft disconnect" feature, even though now removed, is causing this (lines of code left in the source?).

Those lines show that mIRC is sending the quit message just as it should, but the server is ignoring it. I'd say a server setting/bug is causing this, the reason could be different depending on the server, too. E.g. on one server you could have to stay connected for more than x seconds to use a quit message, on another you could be in a channel with a funny mode set.
