I think that if mIRC finds (valid) user registration in the mirc.ini file and not in the registry, that regardless if the -portable switch is specified it shouldn't pop up the about dialog. any one agree?

with the -portable commandline switch, it writes to mirc.ini when you register. howeever they are mime $encode()'ed plus some extra encoding i cant figure out.

from my mirc.ini:

[user]
lastrun=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
username=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
license=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
validated=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

edit:
as it is now, the -portable switch makes mirc look in mirc.ini instead of the registry, for mirc registration information. but like i said, you have to supply that -portable command every time you open mirc or it will ask for you to register, defeating the point of the info being located in mirc.ini
